Why does our Imperial Federal Government spend so much of our resources securing...?

Because most illegal Mexicans just want to cross the border so they can mow your law and clean your house, not murder your mayor and impose a Communist Monarchy on your country by force of arms. Seriously, if you can't see the difference, you are just not trying.
